During summer 2018, the media arts duo Lagueux & L’Écuyer, along with digital artist Roby Provost Blanchard are in residence inside the Villa — véhicule d’arts actuels et numériques, which, for this event, will be parked at the Centre de la nature de Laval. As a site for creativity, presentation, and cultural mediation, the Villa vehicle gives artists the opportunity to engage the public in the creative process.

Partners

The Centre de la nature de Laval, located in the district of Saint-Vincent-de-Paul, is an urban park with over 50 hectares of land, making it Laval’s largest park. This family-focused green space was developed on the site of a former quarry, and also partially on the site of a former garbage dump. This is one of the few examples of this type of redevelopment in North America. Decades of work went into giving the site a new life after years of resource extraction. Thanks to a huge collective effort, the natural environment can once again breathe and give Laval residents a green garden oasis.

This residency is made possible thanks to the Programme d’aide aux initiatives de partenariats (MCC) for the year 2017, as part of an agreement between the Ville de Laval, the ministère de la Culture et des Communications, and the Commission scolaire de Laval.
