Exchange 1 — Archiving in cultural organizations: conventions and creative practice
2 p.m.
An exchange between Jasim Miville-Allard from the Société d’histoire et de généalogie de l’Île Jésus and the Centre d’archives de Laval, and Denis Lessard, visual artist, translator-revisor, and archivist-consultant.
Together, they will address the importance of archival conservation in the art and culture milieu, and emphasize how this practice can both validate and help promote an organization. Several archiving projects and different professional approaches will be presented.
The mission of the Centre d’archives de Laval (CAL) is to acquire, process, preserve, and disseminate the archival heritage of Laval in accordance with Québec’s applicable laws and standards, to promote and support the study and history of the Laval region.
The Société d’histoire et de généalogie de l’Île Jésus oversees the preservation and dissemination of Laval’s heritage, retraces and promotes the history of Île Jésus, and facilitates historical and genealogical research. Its goal is to ensure that future generations can learn about, understand, and see what previous generations have left them.
