Lagueux & L’Ecuyer’s project, titled Conversations: un laboratoire socioludique, invites people to lie on a bed and play a collaborative video game that tests their ability to work collaboratively. Their reactions and conversations are documented for future analysis by the artists. The installation is presented within an inflatable dome that acts as both shelter and lure, with peep holes all around to give curious onlookers a view inside. With the collaboration of Mélanie Binette and the Milieu de nulle part collective, they explore new ways of approaching passers-by.

The Centre de la nature de Laval, located in the district of Saint-Vincent-de-Paul, is an urban park with over 50 hectares of land, making it Laval’s largest park. This family-focused green space was developed on the site of a former quarry, and also partially on the site of a former garbage dump. This is one of the few examples of this type of redevelopment in North America. Decades of work went into giving the site a new life after years of resource extraction. Thanks to a huge collective effort, the natural environment can once again breathe and give Laval residents a green garden oasis.

This residency is made possible thanks to the Programme d’aide aux initiatives de partenariats (MCC) for the year 2017, as part of an agreement between the Ville de Laval, the ministère de la Culture et des Communications, and the Commission scolaire de Laval.
