During this Futur Parc day, we will make nomadic bread while reflecting on the insular nature of Laval, of the vacant lot, the condo, and any other circumscribed habitat that springs from water or asphalt. In doing do, we will allow ourselves to engage in the claustrophobic exercise of associating utopia and scarcity.

Alice Jarry
Alice Jarry is an artist-researcher and professor in the Department of Design and Computation Arts at Concordia University. She holds the new Concordia University Research Chair in Critical Practices in Materials and Materiality. Her work encompasses site-specific works, art-science practices, sustainable design, digital arts and tangible media. Linking aesthetics and politics to reflect on issues of materiality, material production and infrastructure, she focuses on resilient forms for the built environment, intelligent [bio]materials and residual materials. She is director of the Speculative Life Biolab (Institut Milieux, Concordia), co-director of the Topological Media Lab (Concordia), a member of the Canada Excellence Research Chair in Next Generation Cities (Concordia), the Living Architecture Systems Group, Hexagram – an international network dedicated to media arts, design, technology and digital culture, and the Montreal-based digital art collective Perte-de-Signal. Her work has been presented internationally, notably at the Centre George Pompidou (Paris), Ars Electronica (Linz), during the Mutek festival (Montreal), at Vox Centre de l’image Contemporaine (Montreal), at the Biennale Nemo (Paris), Leonardo Da Vinci Museum of Science and Technology (Milan), BIAN (Montreal), Mois Multi (Quebec), Device_Art Triennale (Zagreb), Invisible Dog Art Center (New York) and Mons 2015, European Capital of Culture (Mons).
Maude Pilon
Maude Pilon works in a variety of artistic, literary, collaborative, performative and residency contexts. Her work takes the form of books, printed objects, recordings and arranged readings. Her writing is at the crossroads of poetry, prose and essay. With a particular focus on formal issues, she investigates the gap between spoken and written language, observing in particular the mechanisms of conversation, testimony and thought within our social (dis)organizations. Her texts have appeared in magazines (Estuaire, Watts, Tripwire, Mœbius, Le Sabord, Pøst-) and with publishers (Les Herbes rouges, Squint, Le lézard amoureux, Dare-Dare, Verticale) in Quebec, France and the United States. Lynn Price
Lynn Price is a West Coast-based visual artist. For two years, with her husband Ken Palfrey, she co-owned and co-directed The Moon Snail – a wood-fired artisan bakery in the remote community of Savary Island.
