Participative walks — walking backward
notes on backward walking for a friend:
1) remember you can stop and/or you can turn around at any time.
2) walk slowly, for although your spine is feeling into the space you are moving towards, the human made world is constructed for forward walkers. you will need to move with care.
3) pay attention to the place you are walking away from. shine love from every pore of your body onto this place. notice how, as you move away, detachment from and love towards, entwine.
4) as you walk backwards know you are letting go of your day to day concerns, your worries and your sorrows – but also your pleasures and joys. know upon your return you will be able to retrieve everything you left behind, if you so choose.
5) you are making space, pushing into the elasticity of time. be receptive, but perhaps not expectant, of encounters from a time other than what we call the present.
6) once you are on the other side, allow yourself to take in nourishment. here you will feel the pulse of your very core. sense your lightness. enter your dream.
7) listen.
