Performative presence
Over several days, a performative presence will occur along the tranquil shores of the Rivière des Prairies that will broadcast, with some delay, what has reverberated elsewhere. Via radio transmission, sound fragments originating from Beirut will travel across vast distances. This discreet, almost imperceptible presence will create a space of vigil.
The artist and her collaborators accompany this device with silent, almost ritualistic attention, without imposing on the listener. Within this slight acoustic displacement, tension builds. The calm of the landscape is slowly invaded by menacing sounds recorded elsewhere. This dissonance activates an awareness of space—and the world. What we hear is distance itself—and all that it contains.
