BREAK! LAVAL 440

BREAK! LAVAL 440 is an event that examines women’s presence in the world of trucking, the effects of sexism and discrimination on these women’s bodies and lives, and their ability to take power back for themselves. Inspired by the documentary 5 pieds 2 – 80 000 lbs  (5 foot 2, 80 000 lbs) (1999), and based on an interview with Marguerite Flavie Richer, Sarah Chouinard-Poirier and Guillaume Adjutor Provost reinterpret the true story of “La Star” to draw an iconoclastic visual and performative portrait, a tragic, critical, but humorous divagation. To complement the performance, the 51-min documentary will be screened in the presence of director Nathalie Trépanier and Marguerite Flavie Richer.
