Focus Group — Exorcismes ordinaires [Ordinary exorcisms]

For this activity, which I call an “Optimist’s club / Mid-career artist focus group,” I’m working in film/video and animation in the spirit of DIY (sort of a televised diary / chronology / list as narrative thread). For me, the interest of video is in its ability to tell a story. I don’t want to get hung up on technical aspects, so I’ll keep it simple / DIY.

My basic plan: exorcise my failed relationships

Session 1

• I explain my work plan & my ideas & what I want to do;
• We read/listen to bits of dialogue that will be in the videos (with special guest, to be confirmed!);
• I present sketches of my characters and video excerpts;
• I present images of works/clips that interest me. 

Session 2

• I “show” you where I’m with the drawings/dialogues/videos (I present what’s been done since the first session).

What I’m looking for: to present my ideas, sketches, drawings/collages, audio frame excerpts, films in progress, talk about my influences/discoveries. In the hope that my content will generate conversation, spontaneous feedback, questions, a ping-pong of ideas, laughter, discomfort, suggestions for readings/films. I’d also like to discuss the distribution of work for a mid-career artist.”
