Stilled movement — Workshop
6 p.m. – 9 p.m.
Aboard the Villa ― véhicule d’arts actuels et numériques, media arts duo Stéphanie Lagueux and Jonathan L’Ecuyer make a stop at the Maison des Jeunes La Barak de Mascouche to share interactive experiences with youth around video projections. With the help of two microphones, participants can use their voice to alter the projected images, which show moving objects and materials: leaves that pile up, snow that shapes a path, ice that melts, tongues that draw close. The images respond to the force and duration of the sound signals captured by the microphones and controlled by the participants.
Using their voice to alter the projections, and playing with the edges and surfaces of the Villa truck, allows participants to explore interactivity and cooperation.
As part of these cultural mediation workshops, youth are first able explore the sort of interaction and performance that this projection device makes possible. Afterwards, they’re invited to imagine new video content that could appear in the interactive projections.
