Verticale – artist-run center invites the public to attend the end-of-growth rite of MR. BIG! This performance will take place in two parts and in two places: Bianca Hlywa will extract the large SCOBY from the storage unit, and then deliver it to an experimental farm located on Île Bizard, where MR. BIG will be fed to a group of chickens.

MR. BIG is a fleshy, beige giant mass that grew for several weeks in Verticale’s warehouse. To grow, MR.BIG fed on hundreds of liters of sweet tea, passing carbon dioxide as it processed sugar, forming the large-scale SCOBY. In fact, the bacterium ferments the famous Kombucha drink: a healthy, sparkling probiotic beverage.
