Emprunter (le bout de l’île) [Follow (the tip of the island)]
An infinite loop
An timeless come-and-go
A land of interiors that reveal themselves at the whim of our walks
“Emprunter (le bout de l’île)” [Follow (the tip of the island)] is an exploratory writing and publication project that is rooted in the daily life of Saint-François, Laval’s agricultural district. Based on the certainty that reality can be altered through the process of fictionalization, this project is about what we can’t see.
To follow (the tip of the island) is to follow my parents’ house; it’s following the same 2.7 km walk every day; its following what we know about others to think about what we don’t know.
Like a detective of the ordinary or a builder of the imaginary, I will flood the empty narratives that take place in my visions of the land and its micro-events to draw an impressionistic portrait of my street and its inhabitants. Poetic paintings, film segments, miniature chapters; reality is just a starting point to think about the world.”
